Saturday morning 08.04.12
I am standing near the foot of a gentle, grassy slope, facing west. A quiet country road hugs the edge of the hill, meandering north and south—no traffic on this road at all.
The horizon is full of huge, cottony clouds that sail through an intensely blue sky. Cerulean blue. I’m looking up at the clouds with my son Cullan, who is slightly behind me on my right side. I feel safe.
We see a flotilla of star-like lights that twinkle and move slowly across the heavens, passing underneath the clouds. It’s a haphazard formation, less organized than a flock of birds, but a formation nonetheless.
We don’t speak. We are remembering when we saw this same lightshow over the fields of Hamel, at four in the morning during the Leonid meteor shower. Maybe ten years ago.
We turn to meet each other’s eyes. This time we are sure that what we are seeing is a large fleet of spaceships, floating playfully in the bright sky. Winking at us.
We are mesmerized, awestruck. Ecstatic that we can now be certain of our vision.
Pat’s Dream
Riding in Car While Looking up at Sky (Saturday 08.04.12)
I am riding in a car along a country highway. But I am lying back looking up at the sky and the car has no roof. The area around the ground is dark like night but the sky is blue with wispy white clouds like it is day up there. I love the way the clouds look against the sky, the contrast of the white against the blue. I want to see if I can see anything unusual, like UFOs up there in the clouds. I am semi-lucid in the dream and I realize I may be able to see more things than if I were awake doing this. I feel pretty good about the ride even though I am not looking at the road, but then I come to a hill. The hill scares me because I don’t know if the car will go out of control or not on the way down. I start down the hill but I decide I better sit up and get in front of the steering wheel so I don’t crash. I do this and I feel in better control but I am sad to give up my view of the sky, which was so much fun for me and so beautiful.
I drive down the hill and then up another short hill on the other side. There is a small town there and I am on my way to work or something in the town.
Notes for Denise:
It seems to me that both of our dreams deal with vision in some way i.e. the act of staring up at a blue sky with white clouds and being entranced by the beauty of it.
You mentioned “no traffic” in your dream. It is the same in my dream, no traffic on the road I am on except me.
In my dream I feel at peace in my car, looking up at the sky in this tranquil landscape. Your landscape also seems to be peaceful.
The landscape in both of our dreams is also treeless but with big stretches of grasses fields.
We both take note of the color blue. Also, as a painter, that tube of cerulean blue is always running out. I also find the idea of the night/day aspect is interesting.
Your first waking experience was at night and your dream takes place in the daytime. In my dream the night and day exist at the same time as I am searching the sky for UFOs.
One big difference is that in my dream I am heading down a hill into a small valley and I have this sense of falling a losing control that does not occur in your dream. I wonder if we could be visiting a similar dream space but choosing different experiences there.
In any event, I love this type of synchronicity! I was just saying to someone recently that some people meet in their dreams and have adventures. I don’t think this dream qualifies for that, but it comes close in some ways.
