Waking Dream: Gleaning More From Our Dream Retreat Drawings

(Saturday, November 11, 2017) moon third quarter Virgo / tarot 8 of cups

I pinned up in my clay studio the drawing of seven dreams I created at our retreat. As I worked today on my black wolf statuette, I had lots of time to think more about the drawings. I noticed that three dreams contained artists. One was Akio Takamori, one was Jantje Visscher, one was a famous female artist whose name escaped me. Takamori was a master ceramicist whose figures are subtle, refined and dreamlike. Emotionally charged. Visscher’s piece in my dream was a geometric matrix unfolded: drawn on three panels of thick water color paper and opened to make a triptych. The message I took was that, even though I can work quickly, spontaneously and humorously in clay, it’s best to work slowly, thoughtfully and with meditative attention.

I also reconsidered the dream of the bodhisattva and the dark force. Our designer Seiko in Japan was laid off this week. Once Cyndi goes on medical leave, Alysia and I will be the only print designers left. There were once six of us. Cyndi is dying; I don’t expect her to come back. Who knows if they will replace her. The web and print team had lunch together on Thursday and we expressed our fears to each other. We all agree the CCO is the narcissistic hit man. That night I dreamt about him: he demonically attacked and fired me on Skype. I pushed back. He did not intimidate me. In my dream, the bodhisattva assures me of my safety.
