Journal: 16-Page Book

(Friday, April 10, 2026) third quarter moon Capricorn

I am past the third draft of my small faerie-tale, “Eadie the Herbalist.” The writing style seems fine for now. Yesterday I reordered Adobe InDesign (I cancelled it last fall) and was able to make a decent 16-page book layout. I found a font I like. I found a page size I like. Now I need to start working on 8 illustrations. I plan to make them out of flattened paper clay, decorating the outer borders with herbs, leaves and flowers (inspired by my green-man sculpture and the Sacred Nature oracle Bonnie sent me). Plus making a small, painted illustration of each character in the center. I haven’t used my colored underglazes in years, so I need to buy some new bottles of clay paint. I already ordered herbs and flowers from Etsy, and they have started to arrive. I received dried yellow gorse blossoms from England. I am waiting for dried heather, chamomile, rosemary and elderberry. Next week I am going to start playing with the illustration process and see how it goes. If worse-comes-to-worse, I can publish the book without illustrations, or ask another artist for help.
