Breast Stroke in the Arctic Circle

(Friday, August 1, 2014) Waxing crescent in Libra

Bonnie is in the lead. We are swimming down a small channel into a bay inside the Arctic Circle. There is a thin, clear layer of ice on the water and we are using the breast stroke to push our way through, like ice-breaking vessels on Lake Superior. We have packs full of camping gear on our backs but the packs are bouyant and help us swim.

It’s dawn or dusk or maybe it’s the midnight sun: the light that surrounds us is quiet and grey. The water is grey. I am surprised that it is not so cold that my body is freezing or suffering. The water invigorates but does not chill. As a child I struggled to learn the breast stroke but it comes easily now with Bonnie’s protection. I enjoy the sensation of crawling on top of the sea like an otter or a polar bear. The surface tension of the water holds and caresses my belly, arms and legs. It’s quite sensual.

We make it to the shoreline to the left of us and pull ourselves onto dry land. A small, wooden rowboat is waiting for us. We climb in and re-enter the bay. We row quite a long distance to a casino full of people who are partying and having a great time. We join the celebration.

Day notes:

I fall back to sleep after this dream and fall into another: I am calling Bonnie to tell her about the dream of the Arctic Circle. I reach one of her voice mailboxes where she has left a recording for a woman named Natalie (from the Latin meaning “born at Christmas”). I hear Paul’s voice in the background. I am reminded of my dream of “Edie the Herbalist” where my research partner and I share a voice mailbox. We share messages, telepathy.

This is a near mirror-image of Claudia’s dream called “Pushing through the frozen surface.”

Once Peter and I had identical dreams, on the same day, that we shared at dream group: we both dreamt of a boat with a shallow draft, full of people, rocking precariously on turbulent water.

Chambers of the Heart

(Sunday, July 27, 2014) New moon in Leo

I am the observer. Below me I see a brown-skinned royal couple, dressed in princely fashion. The woman wishes to start her day with a soothing morning bath while her beloved consort begins his day of consultations. She heads for the bath chamber, he heads for the chambers of governance. I feel it is many hundreds of years ago.

Her private bath is at the end of a long corridor filled with dozens of closed doors. I watch her move through the hallway, opening and then closing each door as she passes. I look ahead and see a handsome black man, also dressed in princely robes, enter her bath chamber from a door hidden behind a vanity mirror.

The observer me has many questions. Is the woman in danger? Who is the visitor? What does he want? If the woman cries for help from her beloved, will he be able to hear her through the myriad doors? Even though my vision follows the movements of the woman, my heart follows the emotions of her distraught partner. My questions remain unresolved when I awake.

Sea Foam

(Sunday, July 27, 2014)  New moon in Leo

Just tidbits of this dream remain. It’s quite exotic, so perhaps that is why it is so difficult to remember.

I’m at the seaside. I think I am some kind of sea creature, but I am out of the water, out of my element. I am moving toward the beach so I can re-enter the waves. Heading back home.

Floating lawn chairs are bobbing in the water, but they are like nothing I have ever seen. The frames are open cubes of white tubular steel and the chairs are made of thick white square cushions.

When I finally reach the water a foamy white wave washes over me. My entire body tingles as if from a chemical reaction. A sparkly, fizzy chemical reaction. It feels great! Transformational …

Day notes:

Yesterday I ordered a book from Amazon called “Mermaids, Sylphs, Gnomes and Salamanders: Dialogues with the Kings and Queens of Nature.” It’s written by a man named William Mistele who is a follower of Franz Bardon, a Czech Magus who died in a communist prison in 1958. Mistele has an impressive resume that includes the study of Buddhism, Taoism, Wicca and the Sufi tradition. He is very interested in the Elementals, which he considers real, especially Mermaids. He says Mermaids embody pure love and empathy. The earth, being a water planet, and embodies the same.
