6/3/23 Two, Connected, Cathedrals being Renovated

I am with Denise. She drives us to an old cathedral which is really two cathedrals that are attached to each other. She had read about them. We go in. The cathedrals are huge and open to each other. They are being renovated. There may be a few workers around, but they are not noticeable. I have forgotten my camera and feel disappointed. However, I have my phone and will take photos with it. I see a huge, headless statue at the end of the second cathedral. It is brown. The inside of the cathedrals is white.

Denise and I talk to a nun. She is dressed in street clothes. She is in charge of the school associated with the cathedrals. She says the teachers have just had a meeting. The school is a recent addition to the cathedrals. Denise talks with the nun. I stand by. Denise tells us how the other day she was riding horses with her two nephews. Denise and her nephews got separated, but she knew a short cut and they reconnected. They were riding near the cathedrals. I picture them galloping and enjoying themselves.

I can tell that Denise is interested in teaching at the cathedral school. I suggest she gives the nun her card. She does, though, she is not comfortable giving her the one she has. It is more “commercial”, brightly colored with some portraits and flowers.

  1. It would be lovely to work this one together, although seemingly the story focus is more on “me” than you, which is only symbolic. Our experience together at the Rolduc cathedral is a huge memory in my life. We saw other beautiful cathedrals in Amsterdam, one shaped like a circle. I dreamt of that one in 2011. What a huge blessing that the interiors of the holy spaces are white.

Maybe I am your sister in this dream. We three certainly are focused on spiritual experiences at these end phases of our lives. Maybe that is why you decided against the IASD conferences.

I hope you enjoy Thich Nhat Hanh’s book “No Death, No Fear.” Maybe he is our nun. I have learned a lot from him. He is renovating our cathedrals (wink).

I wish I still had Nigel’s book because I think he talks about two female and two male elements in the psyche. The nephews and the elder women make me think of that. Horses certainly are one of your totems/psychopomps, which always inspire me in your dreams. Freedom and joy in action, in nature. “Horse enables shamans to fly through the air and reach heaven.” A cathedral is a step towards heaven, an opening toward enlightenment.

Having to use your phone instead of your historic camera (which provides more visual details) makes me think of my slipping memory skills. I need my smart phone to help remind me of words and information that used to pop up easily.

I am the most intrigued by the brown (earthy) sculpture with no head. Ancient Greek and Roman sculptures certainly have lost heads and hands. For me, and probably no one agrees, loss of head is letting go of ego. I remember Peter and Jeanne pushing back on Sharon Blackie’s Hagitude idea of releasing ego at this stage in life, but I like what Sharon said. It’s true for many, like your dream of Tom.

I would love to hear your personal insights on this dream, if you work it with your groups, Bonfire.
