First Dementia Dream

(Saturday, December 20, 2025)

This starts in a dream scene I had many years ago, a building that houses my old waking life design job at a company in the North Loop called Merit Printing. There is a quick shift to a different space, a separate building for commercial businesses. I stand inside with a large group of friends and acquaintances (men and women), then we move to an outdoor field. The grassland is near a lake (also from a past dream). We are joyfully gathering in a spontaneous circle, laughing and chatting with each other. I am hanging out with a woman who reminds me of both Cindy B. (from Victoria’s dream group) and Patty H. (from Susan’s dream group). A very inspiring, powerful female. We all begin to play some kind of verbal game, and I have difficulty. Aphasia. But no one seems to notice.

Day notes:

My skill with words has noticeably declined in the last couple of weeks. The sorrow from Cullan losing his job has been very stressful. And the cold weather reduces my exercise options.

A little while ago I did a three-card tarot reading about my semantic dementia. I expected very negative, minor arcana cards. But these are what came up:
Past: three of pentacles (teamwork and collaboration)
Present: The Lovers (relationships that provide support for well-being)
Future: The Sun
(vitality, healing and positive energy — a good omen for recovery)

Christmas Day: This fall I had been reading two books from the 1990s that contain information about Edgar Cayce’s channeling on dementia. He recommended an electronic device that no longer exists. A few days ago I watched one of the last interviews with holistic neurologist Dr. Norman Shealy. He talked about using TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) for cognition, and I looked up the device. There is a new article on the NIH about TENS and dementia. So I am going to try it (buy it), in addition to my acupuncture:

  1. The settings are old work place and outside greenery and a lake. I wonder if the dream is addressing some “work” in progress and that it is healing (greenery and the lake). The two women are vibrant-strong feminine. It sounds like a fun time. The verbal game is a challenge, but it is the dreamer who notices the difficulty, not the other women. The tarot reading sounds positive. I looked at the article. That sounds very interesting. Do you think you can do this electrical stimulation on your own?
