I have wondered for a while if my PPA was caused by hormonal issues. I did not get my period until I was 15 years old (extremely late) and I had a very early menopause, around the age of 40. I chose not to do estrogen treatment because back then the concern was about stroke and breast cancer.
I do take hormone pills (not estrogen) because of my thyroid removal.
Today I saw a new study, published on May 26, about estrogen loss and memory loss for women. The work was done at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, where I just participated in the PPA study. I sent Michelle an email about it. Hopefully I can discuss this with my Mayo neurologist on June 22.
