Visitation: Driving Backwards

(Friday, July 10, 2026) waning crescent moon Taurus

Dad is driving a car. Mom is in the front seat. I am in the seat behind my father. He is traveling on a remote highway, in the country. A road made of sand appears at a ninety-degree angle and Dad turns off the tar road, onto the rough sand, heading toward a forest. He is going way too fast, and both my mother and I yell “Stop! Stop!” He almost hits a huge, old tree-stump, but steps on the brakes just in time. Then backs up. The sandy pathway has a turn, another ninety-degree angle (parallel to the highway), and he continues to drive backwards along the bumpy road. Too fast again, causing lots of panic for my Mom and for me.

The dream transitions. My father is dead, I weep. I have the sensation that Chris is also dead.

Day notes:

I went to Cambridge today to help Mom with her chores. I ended up driving their van to the post office so she could mail his death certificate. It felt very sad to see all of the things Dad had left behind at their house.

There is a sandy, curved country road in the cemetery where my Dad is buried.

Cullan and I both worry about Chris’ driving. My siblings and I tried to talk my mother into getting their GP to stop our Dad from driving near the end of his life.
