Removing the Masks for Daniel

(Sunday, September 6, 2015) moon: waning crescent Cancer / tarot: maid of pentacles reversed

Bonnie is driving. We have decided to travel along the Virginia coastline because of the quality of light on the eastern seashore. The light is illuminating: we feel it penetrate deep within us.

We arrive at an inn that is hosting a small conference. We disembark from our vehicle and walk up a set of wooden stairs on the outside of the 1920s-era, two-story clapboard-sided resort. The building looks very much like the original structures at the Edgar Cayce Association for Research and Enlightenment.

Once inside, we meet up with a man and his wife who are teaching at the conference. They have a young son. I think they are the Condron family: Daniel, Barbara and Hezekia, although there are no physical similarities between any members of the dream family and the waking life Condrons. The dream Condrons are diminutive, only five feet tall. Perhaps they are fey.

Just as at the Virginia Beach IASD conference, Daniel takes a focused interest in me. We talk for a long time. I feel quite honored. Then, as a group, we all board a bus and head for a second gathering, a costume party.

When we finally leave the party, Daniel sits in the seat next to me on the bus and asks about my profession: “Are you an astronaut? An astronomer? An astrophysicist?”

When I reply that I am a graphic designer, he scowls and says that is a bad choice, a poor fit. Suddenly I realize that I am having trouble breathing. I touch my fingers to my throat and discover that my head and neck are covered with a thick rubber mask. In fact, there are three masks that I pull from the top of my head. Once free of the masks, I am immediately able to breathe much more deeply.

At least one of the masks in my lap is the peach-colored face of a space alien. So I understand why Daniel asks if I am an astronaut. Maybe the Condrons are space aliens, which would explain their small stature, fine features and psychic powers.

Day notes:

I had breakfast with Jeanne C. yesterday. We both have been contacted recently through Facebook by our first boyfriends, both named Daniel, both active in the social justice community.

Back in our college days, Dan was pretty disrespectful of the design profession.

At the IASD, Dan Condron said I was more evolved than my employer. I thought that was an odd way to define job dissatisfaction/boredom.

In the bible, the prophet Daniel interprets the king’s dreams. And predicts the coming of the Messiah and the end times.

  1. Love the mask symbol. Did I tell my dream of running from a man and trying on masks to camouflage myself?
In my dream my job is hiding my true self and I am feeling suffocated.
(It sounds like you need a retreat up in the north woods!)

  2. My breathwork retreat is coming up on the 23rd. No phones, no internet! I also looked back at my dream of the breathing sweetgrass kiln I had in February. That dream takes place at your house. You are teaching kids art and your kichen floor is made of quartz crystals. I think it is interesting that I will be at your house three days after I get home from Caddo Gap and its lake with a bed of quartz.
