Merlin Protects Raven

(Monday, September 22, new moon Libra )

My Jungian therapist and I discussed dreams again today. It made me realize that the tall man in my recent rapist dream is my dream guide (who is usually eight feet tall). Then I remembered, towards the end of our meeting, my recurring childhood dreams of Superman. I think my guide has been with me since birth. He is a Superman, just like Merlin. I am considering calling my guide Merlin. Or Longfellow. Or Merlin Longfellow. Best to ask him what his name is, but he may not reply or I may not remember. Maybe he is telling me now in my waking life.

I often call myself Raven (from my middle name Lenore and Edgar Allan Poe’s poem).

Wednesday, September 24: I rode my e-bike to Minnehaha Falls today, past Lake Nokomis and Lake Hiawatha. I stopped at the historic, yellow Longfellow House. The sign at the front explained that it was built in the same style as Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s Massachusetts home, but at two-thirds the size. The Minnesota house was inspired by Longfellow’s Hiawatha poem and our Lake Hiawatha.

Synchronicity: Lobster

(Sunday, September 21, 2025 / fall equinox-eclipse / tarot The Fool

This morning when Cullan was getting the kids ready to take back to Hillary’s, they had a discussion about lobsters. Cullan credited Wyn for spelling “lobster” correctly last week. When they headed out the door, I got in my car and drove to Lakewinds to pick up two grocery items I’d forgotten yesterday. As I turned left on Lyndale at 58th, a big dark-grey truck pulled out of a parking lot. It was called “Marketplace Lobster” and had a huge orange painting of a lobster on the side.

Synchronicity: Fairy Tales

(Saturday, September 20, 2025)

I just read my email from Dr. Sharon Blackie. Her new book, called “Ripening: Why Women Need Fairy Tales Now,” will be available in June of next year. She has done research for over two decades on European fairy tales, stories from the oral tradition, passed down through generations by our folk ancestors. My fairy tales will be from my dream work, and definitely about the strength of the feminine.
