Four Dreams

(Thursday, October 19, Oona’s second birthday) waxing crescent moon Sagittarius / tarot Empress

The night was full of dreams.

Dream 1:

I am having a conversation with someone who pays no attention to dreams and doesn’t know there is “dreamwork.” I spend time with them (male? female?), explaining the value of dreams. I don’t go too deep. American culture doesn’t have much interest or respect for the unconscious.

Dream 2:

A group of us, all women, are moving in and out of a large communal bedroom. The structure is like that of my grandmother’s ancestral home, although the comfy beds and elaborate blankets and pillows are similar to the decor of the “castle” our dream group just rented in Merrifield.

I am tired and trying to sleep, at the edge of a queen-size mattress. The bed is meant to hold three of us, which will be a bit confined. In the middle of the night, an aggressive, powerful woman hops into the center of the bed and keeps trying to push me off. She has strong opinions about my tasks, my mission. In her mind, I am not pulling my weight, accomplishing enough. I respect her wisdom and intelligence, but her ego is distracting.

Hoping for some help, I send telepathic messages to a tiny closet next to the bed, covered by a curtain. As a child, that closet felt to me like there were ghosts inside. I have the same kind of closet upstairs in my Rustic Lodge house.

An invisible woman is on the other edge of the bed, perhaps my cousin Karen, who just had pacemaker surgery.

Dream 3 (most lucid dream):

The plastic on-off button on my smart phone has accidentally been pushed inside the metal framing. I need to poke it back out and make sure it is properly attached so it works again. I separate the front and the back of the phone, opening it to the thousands of mechanical pieces.

What a shock. There is a tiny male human working inside the device. An engineer, a mechanic. He has been there from the beginning, the creation of the phone, and I think of him as enslaved. He has been trapped internally, working constantly. There is a whole team of miniature mechanics, too, but I don’t see them. They are working “down below,” inside the complicated equipment.

Surprisingly, he does not feel restrained. Nor do other members of his organization. Even so, I don’t want them quagmired by the reattachment of the front and back of the phone, but I have to do that once I adjust the on-off switch.

This dream feels miraculous. What do the microscopic people actually do? They must be crucial to communication and information, which reminds me of AI, artificial intelligence. But they are not artificial. They are fully alive.

Dream 4:

I am out in the country, shopping for clothes at a charming consignment store. It feels open and pleasant.

10/15/23 Shapeshifting

I am talking to my mother on the phone. She has a bad cough and keeps coughing. We are to meet for dinner and we talk about where to meet. She suggests a couple of fast food restaurants. I think about how far I can walk and what restaurant is there. One of them is too far to walk. I start to walk. It is about 4:00. I am in a place I have not been before. On my left is a steep embankment that gets steeper as I walk. On the right is water; I think a river.

I then see a huge water bird flying and then diving down into the water close to me. At first I think it is an eagle, but as it enters the water I realize it is not. When it surfaces it is a woman dressed in white with dark hair. She is around 50 years old. I say to her, “You were a bird!” She nods nonchalantly.

The high point is the bird/woman. I am amazed. It/she dives into the river close to where the embankment is becoming too steep to keep walking that way. The road is on top of the embankment and I am realizing I need to go back and then get to the road.

Incubation Question: “Dear Ancestors, Please help me have and remember a dream that shows me my biggest challenge.”

10/12/23 3 Snippets

  1. I am talking to a boy who is in Special Education. I tell him that tomorrow he will not be alone in class. I tell his teacher to work with him.

2. I am at a conference. There is a woman named Missy from Samoa who is in charge. She is giving a presentation to women from around the world. I then have a small group to lead. The last scene is me resting on the chest of a young man. I am young as well.

3. I am an observer. Susan Stember is performing a ritual. She stands on a piece of beautiful material. To her left is a statue of the Virgin Mary. She turns her head towards her. Susan sings in a beautiful voice praising the Virgin Mary. A holy man watches and is very impressed.
