(Thursday, January 5, 2017) moon first quarter Aries / tarot maiden of wands
A dream in three parts, though the scenes are not closely related by theme.
Part 1
My mother and my sisters have scheduled an outing for us at a spirituality workshop. I have no input in the plan. The women who run the large two-story center are a little too New Agey for me, wearing long ruffly blue fairy dresses and lots of tinkly handmade jewelry. They often pull each other aside and whisper suspiciously. There is a secret political and economic aspect to their cult. They focus on the psychic astral plane, not deeper spiritual realities. My family, including Chris, stays for several hours. I enjoy it a little, but I want something better.
Part 2
Bonnie, Jeanne, Pat and I are heading out of the front lobby door of the IASD conference in Berkeley. Pat is talking about a dream he has had of being hit by a car. He says he thinks it is precognitive. He then turns around and purposefully runs in front of a car that is pulling through the hotel driveway. He is hit, and injured. We are in shock.
Part 3
I am embracing a large rock at the edge of a small ocean bay. I dreamt of this bay right before the second IASD conference in Virginia Beach. To my right is a long peninsula of fir trees: First Landing State Park. My arms clutch the top of the boulder and my feet are supported by a small crevice just below the surface of the water. Standing Rock.
Two monkeys sit on top of the rock. I am completely enchanted by their presence. What on earth are monkeys doing in Virginia Beach? Why are they here with me? I begin to have concerns about the three of us making it back to shore. It is the ocean, after all. Suddenly the boulder begins to move gently through the harbor, returning us safely to the beach.
Day notes:
My dreams and waking life are very intertwined of late. Last time at dream group I read a Rumi poem “The China Doll In Us.” Immediately afterwards I dreamt of my tiny Chinese coworker Akina. She was visiting us. Yesterday I found out Akina is coming to the office in two weeks. For me this is not about the pride of precognition but about the peace of awakening to the underlying web/matrix of creation. I posted a video on lucid dreaming to our group Facebook page that explains this concept very beautifully.
My tarot reader friend Marlene invited me to attend an “Allgame” at her house. It sounds fun and I will go but I wonder if Part 1 of my dream is a hint about that experience. Marlene used to own a New Age bookstore on Lyndale and Lake. It was two stories tall.
The image on the tarot card I drew this morning was of bare-breasted warrior women. Today I had a mammogram and ultrasound at the Jane Brattain Breast Care Center. All is well.
I love the boulder and the Monkeys. what a magical dream. I think the monkeys add to the Magic/playfulness of the dream. And I love the boulder moving and bringing you back to shore. I think the dream would make a great children’s book!
