Synchronicity: John William Silverthorne, 15th Great-Grandfather, 1450-1538, St. Mary The Virgin Churchyard, Wiltshire, England

On my 60th birthday, when I was at Jill Purce’s spiritual retreat near Glastonbury, England, I had a precognitive dream about living in my ancestral land (my black wolf dream). Back then, I did not know that the Luther family was from England, but these days I find more and more data about us. Ancestry.com just sent me a few links to my Silverthorne ancestors (part of the Luther family). Many generations of the Silverthornes are buried in St. Mary The Virgin Churchyard, a Wiltshire cemetery. Wiltshire is very close to Glastonbury and Stonehenge. I need to go there!

There is a lovely story about the name Silverthorne. Supposedly it comes from the Glastonbury Thorn, the “Holy Thorn,” a symbol of Christian tradition. Legends say Joseph of Arimathea arrived in Britain, planting his staff on Wearyall Hill, which miraculously grew into the thorn tree. The Holy Thorn blooms twice a year, during winter (Christmas) and spring (Easter).

It is synchronicity that my father, James Luther, is buried at a St. Mary’s cemetery, but his is in Minneiska, Minnesota.
