I am with my sister Jodell. We are at our childhood rambler in Fridley. It’s a blue-sky day. The hill the house sits on is much higher in the dream, almost mountainous. It keeps rising, slowly, gently.
We go inside the house. There is work to do, but Jodell is overwhelmed. Not me. I am comfortable with moving furniture and working on restoration projects in the rooms, particularly in the living room. Perhaps we are preparing to sell the house as part of the will. I don’t want my sister to be anxious. It feels natural for me to do the organization and design work, even though I am not expected to manage these chores.
Day notes:
I just spent some time with Jodell on Sunday at her Park Rapids lake home. She is the Personal Representative of our parents’ will. She was just diagnosed with osteopenia and was upset about that. I have had osteoporosis (worse) for quite a few years, so we talked about diet. We talked about the will, too. I think she will need help, but I’m not allowed to work with the will. My parents want my brother to be her assistant, although he does not want that responsibility. He helps with the lawn and snow and other things.
October 19: Bonnie sends me a video of a song Come On Up to the House.

Come On Up to the House (Tom Waits)
Well, the moon is broken and the sky is cracked
Come on up to the house
The only things that you can see is all that you lack
Come on up to the house
All your crying don’t do no good
Come on up to the house
Come down off the cross, we can use the wood
You gotta come on up to the house
Come on up to the house
Come on up to the house
The world is not my home
I’m just a-passing through
You got to come on up to the house
There’s no light in the tunnel, no irons in the fire
Come on up to the house
And you’re singing lead soprano in a junkman’s choir
You got to come on up to the house
Does life seem nasty, brutish and short
Come on up to the house
The seas are stormy and you can’t find no port
Got to come on up to the house, yeah
You gotta come on up to the house
Come on up to the house
The world is not my home I’m just a-passing through
You got to come on up to the house, yeah
You gotta come on up to the house
Come on up to the house
The world is not my home
I’m just a-passing through
You got to come on up to the house
There’s nothing in the world that you can do
You gotta come on up to the house
And you been whipped by the forces that are inside you
Gotta come on up to the house
Well, you’re high on top of your mountain of woe
Gotta come on up to the house
Well, you know you should surrender, but you can’t let it go
You gotta come on up to the house, yeah
Gotta come on up to the house
Gotta come on up to the house
The world is not my home I’m just a-passing through
You gotta come on up to the house
Gotta come on up to the house
You gotta come on up to the house
Yeah yeah yeah
I love the hill that keeps rising-a spiritual significance? You handle the restoration well. You are restoring your house and it seems to me that resonants with inner restoration.
