5/26/23 Controlling a Huge Bear

I am with a woman interviewer. I take notes, but do not ask any questions. We are outside and sit on a curb on a neighborhood street. The woman is in her 40’s and has a little, grey beard growing from her chin. Her 2-3 kids are around. The woman doesn’t follow the usual protocol. She talks about how her kids brush their teeth. She has them do it her way.

Later, I am upstairs in her house. I pass a bedroom. Her husband? is there. He is trying to control a huge bear by leading it with a blue handkerchief tied around its neck. I go into the next bedroom where two of the girls are. I tell them about the bear.

The bear comes into the bedroom the girls and I are in. The father says to get low implying the bear won’t attack then. I sit down. The bear is behind me. He has his snout at my neck. I breathe deeply, staying calm. The father puts the handkerchief around the bear’s neck and leads him out of the room.

Feelings: curious about the woman, nervous, scared about the bear, calm when the father leads the bear away.
