Denisea texted me yesterday. She is starting a new life, a new business as a tarot reader, and thinking about putting a sign in her front yard. She asked me for a picture of the street sign by the reader named Sophia, a block away from me, on Nicollet.
I looked up Sophia’s website and sent a link to Denisea. Sophia does tarot, palm, psychic and tea readings. Others as well. I had forgotten about interpreting tea leaves and it reminds me of how important tea-time is in my Eadie story.
Tasseography, tasseomancy: fortune-telling method interpreting patterns in tea leaves, coffee grounds or wine sediment. Tasse: French for cup, graphy: Greek for writing, mancy: Greek for divination. Practiced by both Baltic and Slavic nations, related to the Romani (gypsy) culture. I have a tiny percentage of Baltic and Bohemian ancestors. Tea leaf readings originated in China.
Denisea was very kind yesterday. After I told her about my faerie tale project, she said, “Love this for you! You are a magical creature. You always have been. Now you will share that magic.”
